Who they are

World Vision works with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice, supporting long-term development through locally led, community-based approaches.

The LACT Programme has partnered with World Vision since 2010, supporting long-term work with children, young people and families across the Andean region. This collaboration brings together World Vision’s extensive experience in community development with locally rooted approaches that strengthen resilience, livelihoods and environmental stewardship.

Over the years, we have supported a range of initiatives that connect economic opportunity with wellbeing and environmental sustainability. We are proud of a partnership that works closely with communities to create opportunities for young people while strengthening the conditions for long-term, community-led development.

What we are working on together

Youth Green: Ensuring sustainable futures for young people in Ecuador

This programme works with young people in the Napo region of the Ecuadorian Amazon to strengthen livelihoods, wellbeing and environmental stewardship. It supports youth to develop entrepreneurial skills, build confidence and participate in sustainable economic activities rooted in their local context.

During its first year, the project directly engaged 477 young people, with an additional 818 indirect beneficiaries, strengthening both individual capacities and community resilience . Through training, mentoring and practical support, young people are developing green enterprises that connect traditional knowledge with sustainable business models.

The programme combines economic inclusion with psychosocial support, helping young people build confidence, improve wellbeing and strengthen their role within their communities. It also works closely with families, local leaders and institutions to create enabling environments where young people can thrive.

Beyond individual outcomes, the initiative contributes to wider environmental and social impact. By promoting sustainable livelihoods and strengthening community participation, it supports the protection of natural resources while opening new pathways for young people to shape their futures in the Amazon region.

Amazonia Without Borders: Colombia & Peru

The Amazonia without borders project focuses on transforming the conditions that expose children and adolescents to violence, neglect and exploitation in the Amazonian border communities of Colombia and Peru. Operating in remote and highly vulnerable territories, the initiative seeks to strengthen protective environments by working at multiple levels, from families to community networks and local institutions, so that children can grow up in safe, supportive and nurturing contexts.

The project aims to shift the systems around them. It promotes positive parenting practices, strengthens community-based protection mechanisms, and improves coordination between local actors to ensure that risks are identified early and addressed effectively. By reinforcing social norms that protect children and building the capacity of communities and institutions, the initiative works towards breaking cycles of violence and exclusion, creating lasting change in one of the most fragile regions of the Amazon.
